Elevation by Millville Chocolate Meal Replacement Shake (Aldi)

I was a pretty big fan of Fit & Active’s chocolate diet shake, which they sold in four-pack bottles for $3.19 (if memory serves me right). It was never a constant purchase for me, because I never diet, but I liked having them on hand for their intended purpose: as a meal replacement, for nights that I was either too lazy to make something, or got so focused on a task that I didn’t realize until 10 p.m. that I hadn’t eaten anything since lunch. Hey, it happens.

Well now, the Fit & Active shakes are gone, and seem to have been replaced with a similar product from Elevation by Millville, the line that tackles high-end energy bar and supplement knockoffs (and generally very well). Since there are six of them, the price has understandably gone up, but it’s a comparable per-bottle price, with 6 bottles retailing for $4.79 (edit: it’s now $4.99, a hike that isn’t drastic enough to affect the final score). It’s a little pricier than I’d normally like to spend on diet supplements, but again, it’s a nice option to have around for when the only other option is “nothing”.

It’s been a little while since I’ve had Fit & Active’s version, so I don’t feel like I can accurately compare the two flavors, but from what I remember, that one was much smoother and more chocolatey. Elevation by Millville’s version has a slightly stronger chocolate flavor that isn’t very sweet, and even threatens to enter “bitter” territory as it slides down the throat, but thankfully it never does. There’s also a certain graininess to it that tells you you’re drinking something that’s supposed to be healthy…it’s the same style of “tongue grain” found in protein bars. (After drinking about two packs of these over a three-week span, I will say that I barely even notice it anymore.)

And that’s appropriate, because one thing Elevation’s drink has that Fit & Active’s didn’t (again, if my memory serves me correctly) is some added protein: 10g of it, to be exact, per 11 oz. bottle. Aside from that, there are decent-to-moderate amounts of 24 different vitamins and minerals, which can also make this great as a “breakfast on the go”

It might be my award-winning metabolism, but I never actually get “full” from these, and I’m not even sure if most people do, either (despite their “meal replacement” marketing stance), but I do like drinking one at least a couple times per week to help keep the vitamin counts up, if nothing else.

Overall: 8/10. I don’t quite like the flavor as much as I remember liking Fit & Active’s version, but Elevation by Millville’s chocolate shake provides a plethora of twenty-four different vitamins and minerals, while also providing 5g of dietary fiber, and a respectable 10g of protein (with 230mg of sodium, 6g of fat, and 19g of sugar, with 5g added.) Those are some pretty respectable numbers. The $4.79$4.99 price tag (for six 11 oz. bottles) also offers pretty good value compared to other diet/nutritional products, and is closely comparable to Fit & Active’s $3.19 per 4-pack. On the downside, there is a certain graininess to it that prevents it from being ultra-smooth, but you won’t notice after a couple bottles. If you’re dieting or just want to get a vitamin boost between meals, this is a great product at a great price.

I don't want to loose weight I just want to add the vitamins and minerals to my daily diet. Will this cause me to loose weight?

I'm definitely no doctor, so take my advice with a grain of salt, but no product is going to make you lose weight all by itself. So if you drink these, but do nothing else to lose weight (i.e. exercise, eat healthy or infrequently, etc.) then no, it probably won't make you lose anything. I actually take them with the same idea in mind as you and haven't noticed a drop in weight at all.

I can't wait to try them just needed to curb hungry and vitamins once a day or how often is good any suggestions.

Do you recommend this shake for vitamins and protein. How oftens would you drink a day and how many per day.

I'm honestly not sure, haha. Personally, I wouldn't drink more than one per day, but that's just because I don't like feeling like I'm "wasting" them, or going through them too quickly. I usually drink one as a breakfast replacement, since I work early and don't have time to eat before going in.

I'd say try starting off with one whenever you get hungry and then see how that works. Maybe once in the middle of the day, or as a lunch replacement. I'm no dietitian though, so it might be a good idea to look for tips from much healthier people online, haha.

Aldi's Reddit board might be a good place to start.

I don't always keep them around, but when I do, I drink just one per day, and usually around breakfastime to curb hunger while I'm at work. Other days, I'll drink one if I don't feel hungry or get so busy that I forget to eat anything (which, sadly, has happened many times before).

I'd look around for more info online…I'm sure there are plenty of tips floating around on how best to utilize protein/nutritional shakes. It's just a matter of finding a plan that best suits what you're looking to get out of it.

I LOVE THEM! CAN'T FIND THEM AT MY ALDI ANYMOORE!

Oh no! They might just be sold out…they seem to be pretty popular these days, and I haven't heard anything about them being discontinued. Keep checking! That sucks nonetheless though.

I think these drinks are an excellent lunch replacement if your trying to lose weight. I've been doing 2 hard boiled eggs for breakfast, this shake for lunch, and a regular dinner before 6. And fruit as a snack if I get hungry after 6. And with little exercise I'm losing weight. I find that these curb my hunger enough to hold me over till dinner but then I'm very hungry at dinner time. Good luck!

That's great! If anything, I'm looking to gain weight, so I'm sure I'm not the target demographic, but they taste great and they pack quite a bit of vitamins in each bottle (or, at least, more vitamins than doing nothing lol).

Glad to hear they're working for you, and keep up the good work!

I purchased a 6 pack with the intention of using once a day for lunch (in my workplace, we get 15 minutes).

That's a perfect idea! I do the same, except we don't even get a break anymore. That's also good because I can just sneak off somewhere and down a bottle with minimal cleanup.

I am a diabetic (type 2) and like these as a way to reduce carb intake when my numbers are too high. Taste OK, I don’t find them as bad as some I have tried. So many have way too much protein for my activity level. The vitamins are at more sensible levels as to not overwhelm your daily intake. I am a little concerned that on the label it indicates using Bio engineered food ingredients with no definition of what that is specifically. I don’t drink one every day, and maybe only couple times a week at the most.

I feel like no product that says “bio-engineered food ingredients” ever specify what it is. At least, none that I’ve ever seen. You would think more stringent labeling requirements would be put in place to help ease consumers’ minds. But of course the consumer is always the last concern.

I would like to know if there is any caffein in ALDIs Elevation chocolate meal replacement …and if so how much. I love the drink but not supposed to have caffein…so I might have to switch to the vanilla. Thank you

According to the labeling, there is NOT any caffeine in it.
